Participation in a Rally on the World Environment Day
The 5th June is the 'World Environment Day' and is observed all over the world. Last year (1995) it was observed in our country with full enthusiasm of the Govt. as well as the public. The department of environment of Bangladesh organized a rally on the occasion held on 10th June, to build public awareness about natural resources and man-made disasters. 20 of our members along with the members of Notre Dame Nature Study Club participated the rally. It started from Osmani Smriti Milonayton at 8:30am. The Honorable Minister for Forests – M. Tariqul Islam inaugurated the proceeding of this magnificent rally. A huge number of nature lovers from different organizations and NGOs participated in it with colorful banners and festoons. The main theme this year was “Wanted – Seas and Oceans, Dead or Alive”. That signifies that, environmentally conscious naturalists have paid more attention this year on the world’s limited water resources and their proper utilization and conservation.
